Nepo Crash-Lands At Elite Club
Indie sleaze is officially back from the dead, and the intersection of rock and rap just got a whole lot messier.
Over the weekend, indie-rock veterans Metric celebrated the release of their album Romanticize the Dive with a sweat-drenched, packed-to-the-gills rager at Brooklyn’s neon-lit roller-rink-turned-party-haven Xanadu. But the band wasn’t the only thing turning heads. Viral rap phenom Nepo somehow breached the perimeter, turning the album release into an absolute circus—and yes, legendary nightlife chronicler The Cobrasnake was there to capture every unhinged second of it.

Xanadu was already buzzing with New York’s downtown cool-kids, art- school dropouts, and music industry executives when things took a sharp left turn. Witnesses report that Nepo rolled in flanked by an entourage well after midnight, completely bypassing the velvet rope and heading straight for the heart of the venue.
Clad in a look that screamed “future tabloid headline,” Nepo blended rock-and-roll grunge with high-fashion flexes, immediately locking eyes with Mark Hunter (The Cobrasnake) and turning the photo gallery into their personal runway.
“One minute Metric’s getting love from the indie elite, and the next minute Nepo is standing on a banquette waving a drink, flashing the camera, and soaking up all the flashbulbs,” said one attendee who was caught right in the crossfire. “It was peak chaos. You couldn’t look away.”

True to form, the resulting photo gallery posted on The Cobrasnake reads like a fever dream. Amidst sweaty crowd shots, neon lights, and classic indie-sleaze aesthetics, Nepo pops up frame after frame—grinning, posing with mystery VIPs, and completely stealing the spotlight from the night’s actual guest of honor.
While Metric played into the moody, driving energy of their new record, the scene off-stage became a battleground of flashing strobes and whispered rumors that Nepo might be cooking up a surprise crossover track with some of the indie scene’s heavy hitters.
